Guest Mode vs. Account Mode

You may use CUTh's Currency & Culture without creating an account. In Guest Mode, all app data — your FIN IQ Score, curriculum progress, and game progress — is stored only on your device using browser storage (localStorage). This data is never transmitted to us or any third party.

If you choose to create an account, your progress is synced to secure cloud storage so it is accessible across all your devices. Account creation is entirely optional.

Information We Collect

If You Create an Account

When you sign in using Google, Apple, or email, we collect and store the following information:

• Your email address and name as provided by your sign-in provider (Google or Apple)
• A unique user identifier assigned by our authentication provider (Clerk)
• Your FIN IQ Score and lifetime points total
• Your curriculum progress, including completed lessons and quiz results
• Your progress in The Move game, including completed levels
• Activity logs showing points earned within the current day

If You Use Guest Mode

No account information is collected. All data remains on your device. We have no access to it.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your location, financial account numbers, Social Security number, payment information, or any sensitive personal data. We do not run ads. We do not sell your data.

Mailing List (Optional)

If you choose to join our mailing list through the app, we collect your email address solely to send updates about CUTh's Currency & Culture, new music releases, and financial literacy content. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate and improve CUTh's Currency & Culture. Specifically:

• To sync your FIN IQ Score and progress across your devices
• To restore your progress if you switch devices or reinstall the app
• To enable account management features including sign out and account deletion
• To send optional email updates if you have joined our mailing list

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the app.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate CUTh's Currency & Culture. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by their own privacy practices:

Clerk (Authentication)

Clerk handles sign-in via Google, Apple, and email. When you create an account, Clerk processes your identity credentials and issues secure tokens used to authenticate your session. Clerk does not store your app progress data. Learn more at clerk.com/privacy.

Supabase (Cloud Database)

Supabase stores your account profile and app progress data (FIN IQ Score, curriculum progress, game progress) in a secure, encrypted database hosted on AWS in the United States. Data is protected by Row Level Security, meaning each user can only access their own data. Learn more at supabase.com/privacy.

Tiingo (Financial Data)

The Invest tab displays live ETF pricing sourced from Tiingo's public financial data API. No personal information is shared with Tiingo. Learn more at tiingo.com/legal/privacy.

Vercel (Hosting)

The app is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, page visited) for security and performance purposes. This data is not linked to your account. Learn more at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data associated with your account — including your profile, FIN IQ Score, curriculum progress, and game progress — is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

Guest Mode data stored on your device is retained until you clear your browser storage or uninstall the app. We have no ability to access or delete this data on your behalf.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: You may request a summary of the data we hold about you.
• Correction: You may update your account information at any time.
• Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data directly within the app by tapping your account avatar and selecting "Delete Account & Data." You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.
• Portability: You may request an export of your data by contacting us.
• Opt-out: You may use the app in Guest Mode at any time without creating an account or sharing any data with us.

If you are located in California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with specific data protection laws, additional rights may apply. Please contact us for more information.

Children's Privacy

CUTh's Currency & Culture is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

Data Security

Account data stored in Supabase is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption. Row Level Security ensures that no user can access another user's data. Authentication is handled by Clerk using secure, short-lived tokens.

Guest Mode data is stored locally on your device and is as secure as your device itself. We recommend using a device passcode or biometric lock.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify account holders.
